Daytona
Beach Community College offers different sports such as baseball,
basketball, volleyball, and golf.
Also DBCC offers summer camps and activities for all ages.
DBCC’s Athletic Program:
DBCC is a Division I Junior College, competing in the Mid-Florida
Conference in baseball, softball, men’s and women’s basketball,
and women’s golf. The two-year old Gale Lemerand Center houses the
gymnasium, aquatics center, state-of-the-art fitness center, the
training room and athletic offices. The new field house has locker
rooms, equipment room, coaches offices, training room, and an indoor
batting cage.
During the past
year the athletics program has strived toward excellence in many
areas.
There have been numerous successes realized by our
student-athletes, some of which are noted on the 99/00
fact sheet.
As you will see from some of these examples, the students are
engaged and participating in a holistic educational experience.
Additionally, the college community continues to look for
additional ways to support this fine cohort of students.
This past year with the support of the Intercollegiate
Athletic Committee (IAC) the faculty has initiated a focused study
table activity which the student-athletes may attend in the evening
to supplement their academic learning needs.
And, this spring term the college administration, faculty,
and athletic staff have teamed up to implement a Faculty Mentoring
Program to provide additional support in the area of teaching and
learning for these students.
While we always strive to be competitive with our athletic
teams and win championships, our #1 goal remains to help these
students be successful academically so they are able to continue
their academic and athletic endeavors at the next level.
